Employment Increases in the Tourism Industry

According to recent statistics, as of September 1, 2018, the number of people employed in the tourism industry amounted to 71,574 people, which is a 6.5% increase on the same period last year. Out of this, most jobs have been created in Tbilisi, Adjara and Imereti, claims a study prepared by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development.

According to the survey, the largest number of people employed included small enterprises - a figure amounting to 60%. As for the distribution of the employed, the largest number of people are employed in the Food Industry (37%), followed by Transport (32%) and Placement (26%).

During the survey, representatives of 1,000 enterprises were interviewed in Tbilisi and other regions of Georgia.
