Sweden’s Environmental Days Kicks off in Georgia

Sweden’s Environmental Days has kicked off with numerous activities in Georgia’s capital city Tbilisi.

Today an exhibition will start off the daily activities. “Facing the Climate” will be open at Europe House on Liberty Square from 5pm.

The exhibition will present a number of pictures created by both Georgian and Swedish illustrators, depicting various angles of climate change.

After a successful exhibition tour in a large number of countries and continents the project has been growing massively, with local artists adding contributions as well.

More than 250’000 people have seen the exhibition in 23 countries around the world so far.

In a statement released by the Swedish embassy they said “the aim of Swedish environmental policy is to hand over by 2020 a society in which the major environmental problems have been solved. It’s a promise to future generations of clean air, a healthy living environment and rich opportunities to enjoy nature. Hopefully, in that way, we can inspire other countries in the common search for sustainable development. It’s the first time that Facing the Climate has been shown in Georgia and we hope the Georgian visitors will enjoy the exhibition.”  

During the two week event it will serve as a backdrop to a number of other events related to the environment and our climate.

October 3rd will host a clean-up activity in the vicinity of Jvari Monastery, Mtskheta, starting at 11AM.

On October 9th a seminar regarding sustainability in business, both Swedish and Georgian solutions, will be held at Europe House on Freedom Square from 2-6PM.

The final activity, a youth cartoonists workshop will be held once again at Europe House on October 13th from 4-6PM.
