Tbilisi City Hall Helps Keep Street Dogs Warm and Fed This Winter
Over the weekend, Tbilisi City Hall, debuted a new project - dog food dispensers and eco-friendly wooden dog houses. The project was implemented by City Hall's Animal Monitoring Department.
Currently there are three stations in the city - in Rike Park, Vera Garden, and Kikvidze Park. The dog food dispensers work by dispensing food and water whenever a person deposits a 0.5 L plastic bottle into the machine, which runs on solar power.
On Saturday, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze visited Rike Park to see the station in action. He noted that next year there are plans to expand the network and increase the number of food dispensers and dog houses in other parts of the city.
The project was implemented on the initiative of a citizen suggestion by a Tbilisi resident named Giorgi Khavtasi through the Your Idea to the Mayor platform.
