Number of International Visitors in Georgia Reaches All-Time High

In 2018, the number of international visitors in Georgia reached an all-time high with 8,679,544 people visiting the country.

The 10% year-on-year increase reflects the increasing popularity of Georgia among tourists. 4,756,820 people came to Georgia as tourists, an increase of 16.9% compared to 2017.

“We are building World’s Top Tourist Destination that will become an important economic driver and a vibrant exchange spot of people and businesses” tweeted Prime Minister of Georgia, Mamuka Bakhtadze.

Indeed, Georgia is now considered to be safe and attractive by many countries, helping Georgia to become one of the fastest growing tourists destinations in the world. The biggest increase in the number of visitors was seen from Korea (+112%), Estonia (80%), and China (75%).

Georgia generated around $3 billion from international tourism in January - November 2018.
