US Navy Ship Visits Georgia’s Batumi

The United States Navy Navy ship Donald Cook DDG 75 entered Georgia’s Black Sea coastal city Batumi Port on January 21.

The crew was welcomed by the Chairman of Government of Ajara Tornike Rizhvadze and the officials of the Coast Guard Service.

The US ship is in the Black Sea for the second time and it will take part in joint exercises with Georgian Coast Guard.

The US Embassy to Georgia reports that the ship’s visit “emphasizes the role of the US in the alliance of NATO allies and its partners in the sphere of collective defense.”
