EU to Finance Construction of the Kutaisi Airport Cargo Terminal

The European Union has launched a new project – ‘Trans European Transport Network’, within the scope of which 13 billion Euros are to be allocated to the Eastern Partnership countries, Georgia being on the list.

As part of the given program, the EU will finance the construction of a new cargo terminal at Kutaisi International Airport with 61.5 million Euros.  

The building process of the new passenger terminal at Kutaisi Airport is underway and is set to be opened this year. The total cost of the project comes to 60 million GEL.

The airport is currently able to serve 300 passengers per hour, while after the completion of the full rehabilitation, it will be capable of catering to more than 1000 travelers.  

Within the framework of the ‘Trans-European Transport Network’ initiative, 3.4 billion Euros are to be allocated to Georgia and 18 major projects carried out. Some of these will be finished by 2020 and others by 2030.
