Budapest Hotel Not to Be Constructed in Vake Park
Budapest Hotel will not be built in Vake Park, the Tbilisi Mayor stated at a briefing held on Friday, after a meeting with the owner of the hotel. He said an agreement regarding the issue has been reached with the investors.
“We met with the founders of the Budapest Hotel. I would like to congratulate you: Vake Park has won. I would like to congratulate Tbilisi and its Tbilisians, we have managed to reach an agreement and nothing will be built on this territory in Vake Park,” Mayor Kaladze said.
The Mayor expressed his gratitude to all activists and those people who were protecting the green space of Vake Park. He also thanked the investor for contributing to reaching a consensus.
Kaladze explained that the permit for the construction was issued in 2013. He also noted that no compensation would be paid to the investor and that an agreement on providing another place was reached between the investor and Tbilisi City Hall.
