Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Avoid Traveling to Libya

The second civil war in Libya, waged for control of the country and its resources, commenced in 2014, and is still ongoing, as no resolution has been found.

The process of war has been brutal, causing more than 100 casualties and leaving over 25,000 people without shelter.

Taking into consideration the given situation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia has advised Georgian citizens to avoid travelling to Libya, and not to use air, sea or land means of transportation to the territory.

The Ministry says it is unable to provide assistance to Georgian citizens within the borders of Libya.

“Due to the difficult situation with respect to security in Libya, the Foreign Ministry urges Georgian citizens to refrain from traveling as well as from movement on the Libyan territory by air, ground and marine transport,” reads the statement of Foreign Ministry.
