Women's Global Development and Prosperity Initiative Signed at White House

On February 7, the President of the USA Donald Trump signed a memorandum to launch the Women’s Global Development and Prosperity Initiative, championed by his daughter and senior assistant Ivanka Trump. The project aims to bring economic stability to 50 million women in developing countries around the world by 2025.

The official signing ceremony was attended by female leaders working in various spheres in different countries. Nino Zambakhidze, the Head of the Georgian Farmer’s Association was among the guests at the event.

Zambakhidze was given a chance to address the audience and share her experience about the path she has traveled to achieveg success.

“I started with just two cows and managed to become one of the biggest farmers in Georgian reality, and now I support my community in terms of access to finance, education and their prosperity”, said Zambakhidze.

She strongly focused on the significance of the large-scale initiatives launched by the USA in Georgia, which contribute to the amelioration of working environs for women in the country.

The Georgian farmer also expressed her gratitude to President Trump for his leadership and advancing the close partnership between Georgia and the USA.

“Women have a future in Georgia with the help of the US government,” she told him.

The Women’s Global Development and Prosperity Initiative will use a $50 million fund allocated from USAID and will collaborate with private companies including UPS and Walmart.

Within the scope of the project, it is planned to launch new educational programs and provide financial and technical assistance and mentoring for women to augment women’s economic participation in different sectors in the USA and around the world.
