Community Center Opens in Udabno
On 13 February, the Georgian Ministry of Justice has opened a community center in Udabno, a village near the Georgia-Azerbaijan border.
The center, the 63rd of its kind in Georgia, will provide 200 public and private services for the local population. The government hopes it will help tourism in the area, as Udabno is close to the David Gareji monastery, a popular tourist destination.
Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze, who attended the opening ceremony, said the government is taking steps to improve opportunities for Georgians living in the regions: “It is the priority of the Georgian government to encourage the equal development of all regions, provide opportunities for you, and support economic development,” he said.
The community center will provide free internet, as well as a modern library and banking facilities. It will also offer services such as providing identification documents and property registration.
The government has pledged to continue to improve the infrastructure in the region to help the village to profit from its tourist potential.
