Interior Ministry Denies Arrest of 4 Georgians in Ukraine

Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has denied the information that four Georgian citizens were arrested in Kiev on charges of robbery.

“The information spread by Ukrainian media, according to which four Georgians were detained on the charge of robbery in Kiev, is not true. According to our information, the detainees are citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan,” the ministry explained.

The MIA made a statement following reports from Ukrainian media that four Georgians had been arrested on robbery charges in Kiev. According to the media, the suspects robbed at least four people.

The Ukrainian media said the detainees stolefrom a taxi driver and some tourists.

“The detainees resisted the police during the detention and acted aggressively. A wallet, gold and silver watches, as well as other jewelry were seized by police,” the news read.
