Germany to Give Georgia €10 Mln for Internally Displaced Persons

The German government has pledged €10 million to help internally place persons in Georgia.

The money, financed by KfW, will be spent on multiple projects to improve the living standards of internally displaced persons in Georgia.

Thanks to the contribution, 236 houses on land owned by internally displaced families. Marneuli, a small city in the Kvemo Kartli in southern Georgia will create a settlement where displaced families will live.

In addition, the contribution will fund 24 infrastructure projects, 8 new kindergarten, and 2 preschool facilities. Grants will be allocated to internally displaced persons as a source of income and to help small and medium-sized businesses to create jobs. To help internally displaced youth, professional courses and educational centers will be established.

The Danish Refugee Council will oversee the implementation of the three-year project.
