PM: Dialogue between Gov't and Business Sector Is Crucial

Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze says that the dialogue between the government and business has a special and “critically important" role.

The PM made the statement at the presentation of the Business Ombudsman’s 2018 report on February 26.

He spoke about the importance of the dialogue between businesses and the authorities and said that Georgian business should be a main driving force of the country’s economy.

The PM added that the Business Ombudsman Institute is a critically important link in the strategy implemented by the government.

“We believe that Georgian business and entrepreneurs should be the main driving force of the Georgian economy. So, the dialogue between the government and business has a special and critically important role,” he said.

Bakhtadze mentioned that a few days ago, Fitch upgraded Georgia’s rating to 'BB' from 'BB-'. The Outlook is "Stable".

“We are the only country in the region with an upgraded Fitch rating. Naturally, this success is triggered by a very fruitful cooptation between the government and a private sector,” he explained.

The PM noted that all the initiatives that the Georgian government will implement will surely be agreed upon with the private sector.

“I believe that no one knows better than they [the business sector] what we should improve within a legislative framework, what are the initiatives that should be implemented in order to develop Georgia's economy more rapidly. The business ombudsman, as the institute, has a very important role in this process,” he added.
