New Program of Financial Support for Farmers in Georgia

The government of Georgia is launching a new program to ease the access to agricultural equipment for farmers in Georgia; through co-financing Georgian farmers will get the chance to purchase modern agricultural equipment. The program is carried out in the framework of the United Agricultural Project and contains a budget of about 4 million GEL.

The United Agricultural Project is a initiative launched by the Georgian government, which tries to implement a broader approach to the agricultural sector uniting all existing agricultural programs under one umbrella. The main target of the initiative is to favour a long-term development in agriculture and further increase the competitiveness,a stable growth of high quality products and introduce international standards of food safety in Georgia.

At today's government meeting Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze referred to the significant deficits of agricultural equipment among Georgian farmers. The program aims to pursue the positive trend in the field of agriculture; in 2018 the exporting rate of Georgian agricultural products reached a record high.

Bakhtadze pointed out that more programs supporting agriculture will be launched in the future to make agriculture a strong and reliable sector of Georgian economy.
