Niko Ketskhoveli School Award
On March 2, Saturday, regional winners and the finalists of the largest environmental school competition “Niko Ketskhoveli School Award 2019” will be announced. The semi-final event will be attended by 13 schools from Kakheti region, 8 schools from Shida Kartli region and 4 schools from Kvemo Kartli region.
On March 3, Sunday, on World Wildlife Day, the announcement of the regional winners and the finalists of the largest environmental school competition “Niko Ketskhoveli School Award 2019” will be attended by 12 schools from Tbilisi, 10 schools from SamtskheJavakheti region and 4 schools from Mtskheta-Mtianeti region.
The event will take place at Courtyard Marriott Hotel in Tbilisi.
About the project: The competition is organized by CENN in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports and the Parliament of Georgia. The competition is being implemented throughout Georgia within the framework of the project Promoting Sustainable Forest Management for Climate Resilient Rural Development in Georgia, with financial contribution from the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC). The partners include governmental, public, research and private organizations at national at local level. The theme for the 2019 competition is Sustainable Development Goals. The semi-final round is supported by the Waste Management Technologies in Regions Program (phase II), being implemented by CENN through funds provided by USAID.
Key messages: supporting environmental education, raising social responsibility, engaging schoolchildren and teachers in international, national, regional and local initiatives related to Sustainable Development Goals.
