Sex Offender Registry to Be Established in Georgia

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has announced that a registry of sex offenders will be established in Georgia.

The registry will include names of those convicted for sex crimes. It will come under a special draft law ‘Combating Crime against Sexual Freedom and Sexual Inviolability.’

‘The registry aims to prevent crimes against sexual freedom and sexual inviolability and to simplify the identification of sex crimes,’ reads the draft law’s explanatory note.

Sex offender registries are already common in many countries around the world. They are established to aid authorities to track the activities of sex offenders, even after they have completed their prison sentences.
