Four Georgian Members of Criminal Gang Arrested in Athens

The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Georgia reports that four Georgian men, members of a criminal gang, were arrested in Athens, Greece last week.

Among the detained, there is one Georgian, a so called thief-in-law, Giorgi Endzeladze, nicknamed Tava.

The arrest was the result of international police cooperation between the Georgian Police Attaché and the Greek Police.

“Fighting against international organized crime is one of the main priorities of the Interior Ministry. For this purpose, Georgian law enforcers are actively cooperating with foreign colleagues,” MIA reports.

Within the framework of International Police Cooperation, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has conducted 20 large-scale joint operations in EU member states, together with French, Greek, Spanish and Polish counterparts since 2018. As a result, 141 citizens of Georgia were detained, including 10 so called thieves-in-law.
