Last Week of the “Francophonie” Month in Georgia
March is the month of the “Francophonie”, which means the celebration of the French language. Georgia is one of the observer members of the International Organization of the Francophonie that gathers 88 members all around the world.
This organization was founded in 1970 with the goal to promote French language and cooperation between the members states. Its decision-making body gathers the head of state or government of each member every two years. The organization also has a consultative body, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie.
The broader goals of the organization are to promote democracy, education, French language, cultural diversity and cultural exchanges between countries.
Georgia has been organizing events and meetings in French on that occasion for the last days, and the last week promises to be particularly interesting.
Here is our selection of events:
Tuesday 26th: 8 PM: Play “Traversée” at Iliauni Theatre
Wednesday 27th: 8 PM : Film projection « La promesse de l’aube » by Eric Barbier (with Georgian subtitles) at the Theatre and Film Georgian State University
