Sex Education Lessons to Be Introduced if Parents’ Consent
Chairperson of the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee Sophio Kiladze says that sex education lessons will be allowed for children only after receiving the consent of parents.
Kiladze made the statement while commenting on “Code on Children’s Rights.”
“Sex education lessons will be allowed only with the consent of parents. Also, if a family requires, the Orthodox Church and other confessions will have the right to be engaged and consult regarding any particular issue at the request of a specific family,” she said.
The Chair of the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee expressed readiness to hold discussions at the committee sitting in order to avoid questions regarding anti-nationality of this code.
“In order to avoid disagreement and turmoil regarding this issue, we have decided to include this article in the code in compliance with international standards,” she added.
