One Killed, Another Lost in Landslide in Central Tbilisi

A 25-year-old worker died and a 40-year-old has gonemissing as a result of a landslide on a construction site on Chavchavadze Avenue, central Tbilisi.

Around 30 rescuers are trying to find the man lost in the sand with the help of special radars.

"The search is in progress, the rescuers are trying to remove the sand while we help with geo-radars to find the place where the worker is," said Lasha Sukhishvili, a geomorphologist.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has launched an investigation under Article 240 of the Criminal Code, which implies a violation of safety rules in mining, construction or other works.
