Tbilisi City Hall to Increase Liver Transplantation Funding

The Mayor of Tbilisi Kakha Kaladze made an announcement regarding the plans of the Tbilisi City Hall to increase the funding for the liver transplantation surgery from existing 60,000 to 70,000 GEL, at the city governmental sitting on April 3.

The total cost of liver transplantation amounts to 120,000 GEL.

Kaladze stated that financing of this surgery was one of the major promises in the election campaign in 2017 and that 10 individuals have already benefited from the Transplantation Program.

The Mayor also noted that the individuals who have been registered and residing in the capital city for at least one year are eligible to apply for funding.

“We are ready to support people in need but I wish that nobody ever needs such a surgery,” said Kaladze.
