Nenskra Hydro to Launch Three Major Social Projects
JSC Nenskra Hydro, developer of Nenskra HPP project, is about to launch three major social projects in Svaneti that will be implemented simultaneously. The representatives of the company will meet the communities of Mestia Municipality villages – Chuberi and Nakra on February 11-12 to present the projects.
The projects were designed based on the needs assessment of the local communities and will be carried out with the involvement of Mestia Municipality. The project targets the areas such as land registration assistance, technical assistance with heavy machinery, as well as vocational training.
„The investor aims at improvement of daily lives of the community of Chuberi and Nakra, creating for them more opportunities for vocational and economic development. Our social strategy targets sustainable and harmonious development of the region. While developing new projects, we consider both the needs of the local community and the specific nature and potential of the region”, - states Teimuraz Kopadze, Chief Operating Officer of JSC “Nenskra Hydro”.
Preparatory works to construct Nenskra HPP are currently under way.
JSC Nenskra Hydro is a project-based company established 2015 as a result of cooperation between Korea Water Resources Corporation K-water and JSC Partnership Fund. The company will construct the Nenskra Hydropower Plant in the Nenskra and Nakra river Valleys in Mestia Municipality of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region. The 280 MW Nenskra Hydropower Plant will generate approximately 1’200.00 GWh of electricity annually, which will be fully consumed by the Georgian market. Along with the construction activities, JSC “Nenskra Hydro” is implementing a range of social projects targeted at sustainable development of the region. The social projects are being implemented primarily in the areas of vocational training, small-scale infrastructure rehabilitation and small and medium enterprises development.
