3 New Cable Cars to Be Built in Tbilisi

At a government meeting in Tbilisi today, the city’s Mayor Kahka Kaladze announced that three new cable cars will be built in Tbilisi.

The cable cars will be built in Akhmeteli-Temka, Sameba-Makhata Mount and Samgori-Vazisubani.

The government will conduct a study to decide which cable car to build first. Taking 5 months and costing approximately 750,000 GEL, the study will measure technical and economic elements of building the cable cars in the 3 locations.

“Many people travel in these locations and I am sure these routes will be a good transport link, like the metro, buses, and mini-buses,” said Kaladze.

Tbilisi currently has two cable cars running Rike Park to the Narikala Fortress and to Turtle Lake in Vake.
