Ivane Matchavariani to Participate in ADB Annual Meeting
On May 1-5, Ivane Matchavariani, Finance Minister of Georgia, will take part in the 52nd Annual Meeting of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
Matchavariani is to hold high-level bilateral meetings with Takehiko Nakao, President of the ADB, Anthony McDonald, Executive Director of the Bank, Scott Dawson, ADB Alternative Executive Director and Werner Liepach, Director General for Central and West Asia Department of the ADB.
The Finance Minister will also attend the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation Program (CAREC) high-level session.
A number of bilateral meetings will take place with the Finance Ministers/Heads of the ADB member countries, as well as the leaders of other international financial organizations.
Georgia has been a member of the Asian Development Bank since 2007. There are various major ongoing projects, implemented with the financial aid of the ADB, in both the public and private sectors of Georgia.
In the public sector, finances are mostly targeted for infrastructural projects, including roads, power engineering, water systems rehabilitation/construction, and a number of municipal programs.
The funding allocated by the ADB for the projects in Georgia so far amounts to $2.4 billion.
