Residential District to Be Constructed for Georgian Servicemen
Initially, at least 700 Georgian servicemen will get flats on Makhata Mountain where a special residential district is to be constructed. Later, up to 2000 military personnel will be accommodated there.
The information was released by the Georgian Prime Minister, Mamuka Bakhtadze, at the presentation of the project which aims to improve the living standards and social conditions of military personnel. It will be co-financed from the state budget.
“The Government of Georgia aims to make sure that every individual working within the defense forces of Georgia believes that authorities are doing their best to reward their deeds, dedication and loyalty towards their homeland,” Bakhtadze said, adding that in recent years the salaries of over 2200 military personnel and civilians employed within the defense forces was increased and, in addition, 9000 people will have an increased remuneration in 2019-2020.
He also congratulated the servicemen of the country on the Day of Defense by focusing on the outstanding role of the Georgian officers to ensuring not only national but global security and safety.
“We are building our army, which will primarily be the guarantor of peace, and an army which will be permanently ready to respond to any and all challenges,” the PM said.
