On April 26, within the scope of the second Forum of the Belt and Road Initiative, Vakhtang Lashkaradze, Director General of the Revenue Service of Georgia held a bilateral meeting with Li Guo, Vice Minister of the General Administration of Customs of People’s Republic of China.

At the meeting, the parties discussed the dynamics of the fruitful collaboration between the customs administrations of Georgia and China and had a conversation regarding the prospective of its further development. In addition, they agreed to actively continue working on the improvement of the electronic data exchange program. Lashkaradze focused on the importance of sharing knowledge and experience in the field of customs administration.

At the end of the meeting, the parties signed a memorandum regarding electronic data exchange meaning the electronic data exchange of the free trade agreement certificate will take place at the end of 2019 giving economic operators the chance to easily pass primary checks of Certificates of Origin in customs departments.

This project will contribute to the progress of bilateral trade between the countries and will facilitate revealing and eradicating risks related to existing trade restrictions.

Vakhtang Lashkaradze expressed his gratitude to Li Guo for support and collaboration.
