Two Iranians Found Guilty of Import of Narcotics

Rustavi City Court found two Iranian citizens guilty on Monday of possession and illegal import of large quantities of narcotics, the Prosecutor’s Office announced.

The individuals were charged with bringing eight pills (0.1922 grams) of methadone and more than 100 grams of heroin into Georgia. They were charged under Articles 260 and 262 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which criminalizes the import and storage of narcotics, especially in large volumes.

The Iranians were sentenced to 16 years imprisonment each.
