MIA Reveals Drug Realization Internet Scheme

Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has revealed a large-scale scheme of drug realization via the internet and arrested seven people.

Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Vladimer Bortsvadze stated on May 7 that out of the seven detainees four are members of one family – a mother, a father and their two children.

“They were involved in the illegal sale of narcotic drugs via the Internet. As a result of a large-scale operation, 2,125 packages of various drugs have been seized from the organized group. Pre-trial detention has been ordered for all seven detainees,” he said.

In total 676 persons have been charged for drug crimes in Georgia since January 1, 2010.
