Student Festival 2019 Launched in Tbilisi
On May 7, Mamuka Bakhtadze, the Prime Minister of Georgia and Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi attended the official opening ceremony of the Student Festival 2019 – yet another project devoted to youngsters and the sphere of education.
The Head of the Government took to the stage and addressed the audience, focusing on the crucial significance of education and youth for the development of the country and stated that it is vital to allocate investments in this direction – to the young generation, and not the upcoming elections. Bakhtadze also expressed his happiness regarding the success of youngsters and thanked the organizers of the Festival.
“I am especially proud to learn about the success of our youth on a daily basis. You are the future and promise of our country. You are the most energetic, active, creative, and uncompromising people when it comes to protecting our country's national interests,” said the Prime Minister.
Kakha Kaladze stated that all the projects carried out with the support of Tbilisi City Hall are aimed at the creation of better conditions for the future generations. He noted that the engagement of students in this case is paramount. He also thanked the participants and organizers of the Festival for their involvement.
“I would like to express my gratitude to each of you participating in today’s event and wish you the best of luck. Be sure that we will always support you,” said the Mayor.
A "College town" has been set up in the territory adjacent to Olympic Park for the 10-day festival, which is to last until May 16 and bring together 36 higher education institutions operating in Tbilisi and nearly 50,000 Georgian, as well as foreign, students.
A number of athletic, cultural and creative activities have been scheduled within the framework of the Student Festival, which will enable the participants to better present their cultural identity. The project is aimed at the promotion of a healthy lifestyle, diverse student life, as well as the formation of the principles of healthy rivalry among students, giving them an opportunity for self-expression.
