New Modern Buses to Come to Tbilisi
Tbilisi will continue to modernize its infrastructure by welcoming 90 brand new, 10-meter long diesel-operated buses, Mayor Kakha Kaladze of Tbilisi and Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze jointly announced.
“The issue of public transportation is one of the most important for Tbilisi. Today we have started a very important step, which will solve this problem once and for all,” the Prime Minister said. Mayor Kaladze thanked the Prime Minister for his invaluable support of the initiative.
The green-colored buses have 27 seats and can transport up to 82 passengers. They are equipped for people in wheelchairs and have heating, air conditioning, ventilation, USB ports and WiFi. The new fleet of buses will replace the old yellow ones still operating in the capital, and will initially operate on ten routes.
Additionally, by the end of the year, 220 new, Isuzu eight-meter long buses will begin running in Tbilisi, capable of accommodating up to 53 passengers.
Furthermore, an additional 200 12-meter long buses, 100 of them gas-powered and 100 of them electric, will appear in the capital next year.
“I promise Tbilisi will be a real European city,” the Prime Minister said.
