Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Finance Diaspora Projects

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has created a grant program to finance projects pursued by members of the Georgian diaspora, the Ministry announced in a press release.

Among the goals of the “Promotion of Diaspora Initiatives” is to “preserve national and cultural identity,” “develop public diplomacy,” and “protect the interests and rights [of Georgians in the diaspora].” The pilot program will receive 500,000 GEL from the Ministry’s budget.

Georgian citizens will be able to submit their projects electronically from May 14 to June 14 2019 at diaspora@mfa.gov.ge. Each grant recipient will receive no more than 30,000 GEL.
