Serviceman Found Dead in Tbilisi

A contracted serviceman of the Georgian National Guard was found dead in his Tbilisi apartment, the Ministry of Defense announced on Thursday.

Paata Chkhaidze, (b. 1985) who served in the 10th Cadre Brigade of the National Guard, was found in his apartment on Wednesday. A firearm was recovered at the scene. An investigation has been launched under Article 115 of the Criminal Code, which involves incitement to suicide.

The Ministry of Defense “expresses its deepest sorrow over the incident and offers its condolences to the family members and relatives of the deceased,” the statement reads.
