HUAWEI CEO Answers the Questions of Media
A broad interview between the CEO of HUAWEI Ren Zhengfei and the Chinese media has been held regarding the current developments between the USA and HUAWEI Company.
In case of suspending the Android license by Google, the CEO Ren Zhengfei introduced the position of HUAWEI.
“First of all I would like to express my gratitude to the American companies, HUAWEI has been collaborating with, for this long time period. They have been supporting company for 30 years in terms of its expansion and development and their contribution is great in this case. Concerning the ongoing processes, even though the progress of the company is to decelerate, it will not take place on the scale everyone is expecting. In the first quarter of this years, our income has increased by 39%, the same figures as of the last year. The income was decreased by 25% in April and the trend may also continue. But this decision will not lead us to the damaging of the industry,” stated Zhengfei.
On the question regarding the plans of the company within the following 90 days, when the restriction of the USA are stopped, Ren Zhengfei gave the answers as follows:
“Resuming our work and doing it in the very best way, is far more important than this time period, as we are unable to control the actions of the USA. If Google stops supporting HUAWEI, this will have a great impact on the operation of the company by all means. Google is a very good company and we will continue working to mutually find solutions,” said Zhengfei.
The CEO has mentioned that these issues will not have any major impact in case of the most developed technologies of HUAWEI, such as 5G. On contrary, the company may benefit from them at some point, as the rivals will not be able equalize with them for the following 2-3 years.
The aspect of memory cards, ordered to the American distributors by HUAWEI, is also important. The CEO of the company stated that the partner companies scrupulously fulfill their duties and at this stage are trying to obtain the permission from Official Washington.
“In case of agreement, HUAWEI will continue purchasing American memory cards. Even if HUAWEI fails to receive the enough supplies of the products from the partners, no problem will arise, as we have the resources to produce them again,” noted Ren Zhegfei during the interview.
HUAWEI is using 1+1 policy, according to which, the half of the consumed memory cards come from American companies, while the second part is launched by HUAWEI.
“The so-called independent innovation, meaning taking over the positions of the dominant players, is not our goal. We want to have partners worldwide and aspire them to be financially strong.”
Ren Zhengfei did not give a specific response regarding the use of the Hongmeng OS system, and stated that HUAWEI is certainly able to launch its own operating system, but it does not mean that it will replace other systems by all means. No exact information has been released in this regard yet.
According to the official statement of HUAWEI, there are no bases for being worried for the customers. The restrictions are not to be applied to the smartphones released so far. In addition, the update of the Google security system and other services in the smartphones and tablets manufactured so far, will take place regularly. The access to the Google services, such as Google Play, Gmail and others, will not be restricted for the current customers of HUAWEI. Restrictions will not be applied on the products, which are present at the shops and/or represent the supply for sales.
