Hourly Parking in Tbilisi to Begin August 1
Zonal hourly parking will be introduced in Tbilisi from 1 August, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze announced, delaying its implementation by one month.
Speaking at a government meeting, Kaladze underlined the necessity of paid parking to reduce environmental pollution and traffic and to encourage people to use public transport.
“We have already begun replacing buses and taking concrete steps,” said Kaladze. Tbilisi City Hall has also signed an agreement for 220 new buses that will begin from August.
Zonal hourly parking will first be piloted in Kote Abkhadzi and Abantubani. Residents living on the streets will not be required to pay for parking.
Following the pilot project, the scheme will be rolled out across the city. Tbilisi City Hall also plans to create an app to make it as easy as possible to pay for parking.
