Tbilisi City Hall Presents Upcoming Youth Projects
On June 6, Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi, launched a thorough presentation regarding the upcoming youth projects, being on the top of the Tbilisi City Hall Agenda.
First of all the Mayor focused on the importance of youngsters for the further development of the country.
“The role of youngsters in terms of the development of the country and progress of the city is vital. Thus, we have always been thinking of implementing such projects, that would require the involvement of youths,” said Kaladze, going on to express his gratitude to Irakli Kobakhidze, the Chairperson of the Georgian Parliament and Giorgi Tkemaladze, the Chairman of City Council, present at the event, for their support. The Mayor also noted that Mamuka Bakhadze, the Prime Minister of Georgia, who is currently paying an official visit to the USA, will soon present a new concept regarding the youth projects, which will also be supported by the government of the capital city.
Sopio Khuntsaria, Deputy Mayor of Tbilisi and Irakli Gvilava, Head of the Municipal Department of Culture, Education, Sport and Youth Affairs, spoke specifically about the scheduled projects, accentuating the significance of the forthcoming Tbilisi Lab, within the scope of which, it is planned to launch vocational laboratories.
“This is a new initiative, which has already been agreed with the City Hall. It is planned to launch 10 interesting areas across the 10 districts of the city, integrating thematic and creative spaces for youngsters. Each lab will have its mentor and will operate in a number of directions: architecture, digital technologies, ecology, design, as well as arts. The consultation space is also to function, as there are many youths who aspire to acquire education abroad and we will provide them with relevant consultations. In addition, the areas will also envisage the rehearsal halls for those youngsters, who do not have such capabilities,” noted Khuntsaria.
The Deputy Mayor also spoke about the payed internship program, which is to come into force in the near future, while Gvilia focused on the possibilities of holding free master classes and workshops of foreign specialists for students.
Sopio Khuntsaria announced a major project, which will be focused on the support of young entrepreneurs and briefed about the youth village, which is to be built in Kojori and host the local, as well as international summer and winter schools, camps, forums, workshops, youth festivals, and sports events during the entire year. The area will integrate residential, educational, sports and recreational infrastructures.
A number of other significant initiatives were also covered at the presentation.
