Export from Georgia Increased by 14.2% in January-May

According to the National Statistics Office of Georgia, External Merchandise Trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to USD 4 959.0 million in January-May 2019, 1.0 percent higher year-on-year.

The value of export increased by 14.2 percent reaching USD 1 466.8 million, while the import decreased by 3.6 percent and amounted to USD 3 492.3 million.

Georgia’s trade deficit came out to $2.02 billion, which was a 40.8% share of the country's total trade turnover.

A trade deficit is an economic measure of the negative balance of trade in which a country's imports exceed its exports.
