Organizer of Tbilisi Pride Warns those Willing to Participate

We want to warn everyone who is going to participate in the scheduled public march, that there are some risks and they have to decide whether they are ready to take part in the events, Nino Bolkvadze, one of the organizers of Tbilisi Pride told journalists.

According to her, members of the society must find forms of co-existence and cooperation that will be useful and safe for each citizen.

"We’ve been planning and holding negotiations with the government and other relevant stakeholders for months. In recent days, as a result of working for hours, we can say the following: safety measures are taken by the organizers within our competence.

At the moment, dozens of people are involved and work hard to provide safety during the events. The high-ranking officials are also involved in the process and I hope that this work will be effective. There are, of course, the risks, and the state is responsible for avoiding the risks.

We want to warn everybody who is going to participate in the public march, that there are some risks and they have to decide whether they are ready to take part in the events”, Nino Bolkvadze said.

As a reminder, on June 17, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia refused organizers to hold Tbilisi Pride due to the safety risks. The above-mentioned information was released by Public Defender Nino Lomjaria. Despite this, on June 18 the organizers of Tbilisi Pride released the statement, saying that Tbilisi Pride will be held anyway.
