Ukrainian Ambassador Refuses to Listen to Russian MP
On June 19, Ihor Dolhov, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Georgia, temporarily left the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy, while Sergei Gavrilov, the member of the Parliament of the Russian Federation was delivering a speech, expressing protest to the policies of Russia in this way.
When asked about the reasons of leaving the Assembly, the Ukrainian Diplomat told the representatives of media: “I do not want to listen to the Russian Federation, as it continues to occupy the territories of Ukraine and Georgia.”
Dolhov also focused on the importance of the event for the development of the independent Church of Ukraine.
The Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy is taking place on June 19-23 in Tbilisi.
The visit of the Russian Delegation to Georgia was also protested by the citizens, arguing that Gavrilov was fighting against Georgians in the region of Abkhazia in the 1990s.
