Tbilisi Pride Officially Begins

Despite the wave of unrest created around Tbilisi Pride, it began yesterday with a theater performance of "Caucasian Metamorphosis."

On June 17, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia discouraged organizers from holding Tbilisi Pride due to the safety risks. Despite this, on June 18, the organizers of Tbilisi Pride released a statement saying that Tbilisi Pride would go ahead and, indeed, they managed to hold the first event of the week.

Despite the risks that the participants may face by attending the Pride events, more than 100 people attended the social theater performance yesterday. The event was held successfully and peacefully, without any incidents.
