Free Digital Library at Tbilisi Metro

A free digital library was opened at the Tbilisi Metro early yesterday by Irina Javakhidze, the director of SABA Digital Book House and the manager of the project Mariam Mekvabishvili.

According to interpressnews.ge the new digital library was installed at Station Square as part of a joint project between the Technology Development fund and Digital Book House SABA and aims to develop new technologies in reading in order to stimulate people to read more.

Now passengers are able to download free digital books and enjoy reading them on their journeys. The free digital library has Georgian and foreign publications. To download the free books, readers must install the SABA reader application, then simply select the book you want and scan it using the QR code. People are also able to download catalogues from the Tbilisi Metropolitan Library and search for their favourite books.

Work on the project started in June thanks to the Technology Development Fund and Digital Book House SABA.
