Tbilisi Open Air Joins the Protest
Tbilisi Open Air, the annual musical festival, opened today and joined in the protest against the Russian occupation of Georgian territories. The organizers set up a special space for attendees interested in the events taking place in front of the Georgian Parliament with a screen showing live coverage.
Further, the main stage features a slideshow with symbolic illustrations – “No to Violence” and “Russia is an Occupier” being the main theme.
The organizers Tbilisi Open Air published an announcement on their official Facebook page.
“The current situation in the country inspires no mood for a festival,” reads the post, “the events that have taken place on Rustaveli Avenue sadden and anger us. Tbilisi Open Air is not merely a musical festival – this is a space that unites people under the most important value, which is freedom. We have been doing that for 10 years now. At this time, hundreds of artists and guests have arrived for the festival, Lisi Wonderland has already been transformed into a festive space and we will, without a doubt, speak up from here. As Tbilisi Open Air begins, we condemn violence and acknowledge the single most important value – freedom!”
Tbilisi Open Air Festival is on until June 23.
