Russia Tightens Quality Control on Georgian Wine

After the Russian President Vladimir Putin's so-called Travel Embargo, namely the decision to ban Russia's airlines from flying to Georgia from July 8, The Russian Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing began to make statements against Georgian wine.

According to their statements, the quality of wine and other alcoholic beverages imported from Georgia deteriorates from year to year, so they are forced to tighten control on Georgian products.

"The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing systematically monitors the quality and safety of alcohol entering the territory of the Russian Federation from Georgia. The dynamic of regular control shows the deterioration of alcohol quality. The amount of alcohol, which failed to meet the requirements increased 2,9 times from 2014 to 2018 and reached 203 thousand liters", reports the website of the Agency.
