Russian Media on Georgian Tourism

The recent ban of flights from Russia to Georgia by the President Vladimir Putin and the ongoing tourist season in Georgia has become a matter of strong debates within Georgia, as well as beyond its borders. While thousands of ordinary citizens, public and religious figures from all over the world support Georgia and promote the country’s tourism industry by launching large-scale social campaigns, the Russian media states that Georgia is in a very difficult situation.

Russia 24, a state-owned Russian-language news channel, has reported that the Georgian national currency Lari has fallen to the historical minimum, relating the case with the supposed decrease in the Russian tourist inflow.

“Georgia is trying all the means to find a solution, but with no results,” reported Russia 24.
