Georgian Delegation Leaves PACE Session in Protest

On June 26, the official delegation of Georgia left the session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), protesting the decision to return Russia the right to vote in the organization. Along with Georgia, the representatives of Ukraine, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Slovakia also quit the session.

On the behalf of the 7 countries, Volodymyr Ariev, the Head of the delegation of Ukraine, stated that they are going back home to hold negotiations with the government regarding the actions at the further PACE sessions.

Russia was deprived of the right to vote in the PACE in 2014, following the annexation of the region of Crimea.
