Economy Minister at Kutaisi Electric Car Factory

“Our goal is to replace an ecologically unsafe car fleet with new electric cars, including electric motors manufactured in Georgia in the next 10 years," said the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava at the official presentation of the project "I-Group" in the electric car manufacturing factory in Kutaisi.

According to the Minister, electric cars produced in Kutaisi will be designed not only for the Georgian market. “We are building a green economy. Green economy means developing new, ecologically clean technologies. The Kutaisi electric car factory is such a project. It is important that the enterprise is opened in Kutaisi, which is known for its industrial traditions. By implementing this project, Kutaisi regains the status of the car-manufacturing capital".

According to the project, the industrial group "I-Group" is to construct an industrial complex on 100 hectares in Kutaisi. The first project is an electric car factory where about 300 local residents will be employed and the capacity of the enterprise will be 5,000 electric cars. The project is implemented in partnership with the large Chinese corporation "Changan".
