State Duma to Discuss Imposition of Restrictions on Georgian Goods

Today, July 9, the State Duma of the Russian Federation is to discuss the possible imposition of additional economic restrictions to Georgia amid the “anti-Russian provocations in the country”, which according to the members of Duma, lead to the further degradation of the Russian-Georgian relations.

Vyachselav Volodin, the Speaker of the State Duma, has stated that the parliament is to appeal to the government to impose sanctions to Georgia.

“According to parliamentarians, unfriendly actions against Russian citizens and Russia in Georgia should be adequately assessed,” reads the statement on the official website of the Russian Duma.

The deputies of the State Duma plan to propose to suspend imports of certain goods from Georgia, wine and mineral water in particular, as well as to limit financial remittances to the country.
