Tamar Gabruashvili Selected the First Obama Foundation Scholar from Georgia

Tamar Gabruashvili, employee of the International Relations Department of the Revenue Service within the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, has become the first Obama Foundation Scholar from Georgia to be selected from among several thousand participants.

The Obama Foundation is to finance one-year Masters’ course at the Harris School of Public Policy at the world’s leading University of Chicago for Gabruashvili, while the team of Barack and Michelle Obama will also work for the further professional development of the scholar.

“Being an Obama Foundation scholar is an incredible achievement and honor for me,” says Tamar Gabruashvili, adding that the experience obtained so far has much contributed to her preparation in terms of facing new challenges. Gabruashvili also states that her work at the International Relations Department of the Revenue Service and a number implemented projects have also played a pivotal role in her success. 

“Along with prestige, being a scholar of the Obama Foundation is also of crucial importance, as it is to help me to establish communications with the most significant figures worldwide. In addition, I am given an opportunity to develop my career with the assistance of the team of Barack and Michelle Obama, who have always been my inspiration,” states Tamar Gabruashvili.

At the International Relations Department of the Revenue Service of Georgia, through the cooperation with different international organizations and partner countries, Tamar has carried out various interesting projects, primarily aimed at the establishment of the transparent tax administration in accordance with European standards.

Obama Foundation finances extraordinary young leaders. The major goal of the foundation is to discover and support outstanding, dynamic youngsters from all around the globe and connect them with each other.
