Donald Tusk Quotes Vazha-Pshavela
At the International Conference taking place in Batumi today, Donald Tusk, President of Council of Europe, quoted the world-renown Georgian writer Vazha-Pshavela and addressed the audience in Georgian language.
“I would like to recall on of the greatest Georgian writers Vazha-Pshavela, who said: "Some think that true patriotism contradicts cosmopolitism, but this is a mistake. Every true patriot is a cosmopolitan and every reasonable cosmopolitan is patriot,” stated Tusk adding, “Some people say that true patriotism excludes cosmopolitism, but this is not so. A true patriot is a cosmopolitan and all true cosmopolitans are true patriots. Every cosmopolitan serves his country and tries to increase and develop it.”
International Conference “Georgia's European Way” is dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Eastern Partnership and is set to be completed on July 12.
