US Justice Department to Start Examining the Internet Giants
The Justice Department of the United States has decided to examine technological giants, DW says.
Reuters reports that Facebook, Google, Amazon and Apple are on the list. The reason for the investigation is the initiative of the Anti-Monopoly Service, as the monitoring aims to inspect the implementation of the anti-monopoly law by the companies.
It will be checked “how the market-leading online platforms have reached their level of influence and whether they participate in practices that reduce competition, suppress innovation or otherwise harm consumers” the statement read. Shares in said companies fell after the mentioned information was announced.
No official comment on this issue has been made by Google, Facebook, Apple, or Amazon.
