University Entrants from Abkhazia to Benefit from Recent Decision of the Gov’t
University applicants from the occupied region of Abkhazia, who were deprived an opportunity of taking examinations amid the closure of the so-called border checkpoint at Enguri Bridge by the de-facto government, will be enrolled into higher education institutions on undergraduate and postgraduate courses in accordance with their choices, without sitting any exams. The announcement was made by Mikheil Batiashvili, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Georgia, earlier today.
In addition, Batiashvili stated that the government is to cover the tuition fees for these students.
The de-facto government of the occupied Abkhazia closed the so-called border at Enguri Bridge and restricted the movement for the residents of the region to the rest of Georgia on June 27, while the United National Exams 2019 took place on July 1-23.
